Faq Single disc machines
1. What is a single disc machine?
Single disc machines were designed with the aim of automating cleaning operations, particularly the scrubbing and treatment of a wide variety of flooring types (marble, terrazzo, wood, tiles, klinker, linoleum, etc.). Cleaning operations, therefore, require two alternate phases (scrubbing and drying), automating an operation that would otherwise have been carried out manually and in a very time-consuming way.
The possibly of equipping machines with brushes or abrasive discs with different characteristics enables single disc machines to perform both deep-cleaning of industrial surfaces and delicate maintenance/polishing operations for high-spec flooring, provided that the right type of machine is selected.
2. Can I wash and polish with a single machine?
There are models that can work at two different speeds (usually 150-300 rpm), so they can be used for both washing and polishing operations.
However, please remember that they represent a compromise solution and cannot be compared with the use of two specific machines (a classic 150-160 and a high-speed 400 rpm machine), and they are only suitable for small surfaces.
3. What's the difference between gear drive and belt drive?
With low speeds there are no real differences for the operator but, as the speed increases, the belt offers a lower noise level and smoother functioning. The T UHS 1500 single disc machine with 1500 rpm avoids this problem however, as it has direct drive.
4. Are the single disc machines all cable-powered?
No, there are also high-speed, battery-operated models (24 or 36V) for polishing large surfaces. These are special models for specific cases of course, where the machine is purposely designed for the polishing or dry maintenance of surfaces that are suitable in terms of material and treatment.
5. Are they easy to use?
They're professional machines. This means that, to use them, some training is needed with regards both manoeuvring and - especially - treatments (using the specific products and pads).
Machine manoeuvring varies for high and low speeds. Low speeds require an alternated right-left movement and, for specific needs, you can work in a limited area; high speeds need continuous, straight line movements.
